30 Days In: Why xtype Was the Right Move

When I was deciding on my next adventure, I knew I wanted four things:

One of the most energizing parts of these first 30 days has been listening to our customers. They don’t just use xtype; they rely on it. For a marketer, there’s nothing better than having customers who are not just satisfied, but genuinely enthusiastic advocates.

One of the first things I noticed at xtype is that this isn’t your typical start-up team. Yes, they bring impressive enterprise DevOps experience, but what really struck me is how consistently their values show up in the way they work with each other and with customers.

I’ve seen how diverse perspectives drive better solutions, whether it’s CISOs, platform teams, or auditors. The team is intentional about building governance that works for everyone. I’ve been impressed by the transparency in cross team discussions, and I’ve noticed the spirit of Kaizen (continuous improvement) everywhere, always with a drive to help customers move faster without sacrificing control. Adaptability also stands out: the team leans into each organization’s unique ServiceNow challenges and regulatory needs without creating disruption. And perhaps most importantly, there’s a real sense of commitment, taking ownership for outcomes, ensuring compliance, and delivering measurable results.

In short, this is a team that truly lives and breathes governance, not as a checkbox but as a strategic advantage. For me, seeing those values in action has been one of the most energizing parts of my first 30 days.

What I Was Looking for in the First 30 Days

As a marketing leader, the first 30 days are about validation. Did the promises made in the interview process hold? Is the vision matched by execution? Are the customers genuinely delighted? At xtype, I’ve been able to answer all those questions with a resounding yes.

It’s also about starting to shape the narrative and making sure the market understands not just what we do, but why it matters. Governance isn’t optional in ServiceNow, it’s the competitive advantage that ensures faster, safer delivery. That’s a story I’m excited to help tell.

Looking Ahead

The next chapter is about getting out on the road, listening to customers directly, and bringing more stories to life.
